Kardashian Christmas card deemed ‘ridiculous,’ ‘hack work’

December 21st, 2011

In what has become an family tradition for one of the most famous (some would argue the most famous for nothing) celebrity families, the Kardashians have released their annual family Christmas card, pulling a page from the books of people on the other, less green, side of the fence. However, unlike the average Dick and Jane, the Kardashians have spared no expense with their creation, which borders on outright art according to some celebrity pundits.

I an interview with Fox News celebrity branch Fox 411, Andrew Irving, head of a Los Angeles creative agency, called the photo, among other things, ‘hack work,’ ‘CGI-looking,’ ‘ridiculous,’ and even ‘non-human.’

Jon Bon Jovi dead? This Internet hoax just won’t die

December 21st, 2011

Jon Bon Jovi dead? No. Jon Bon Jovi is not dead. But that little tidbit of truth doesn’t seem to matter. The false rumors about Bon Jovi’s untimely demise gripped the country on Tuesday — well, that and the Kardashian Christmas card– so you might as well brush up on the details.

Bon Jovi is the latest celebrity victim of an Internet death hoax. It all started with a website called Daily News Blog International, which posted a story Monday claiming that the New Jersey rocker was dead. From there, the rumor spread like wildfire, pinging around the blogosphere and every social media network known to mankind.

Despite repeated attempts by Bon Jovi himself to put the rumors to rest, “Jon Bon Jovi dead” continued to be on fire among Google searches on Tuesday morning.

Once Upon a Time stars give scoop on season ahead

October 24th, 2011

Now that you’ve checked out the season premiere of ABC’s time-jumping fantasy effort, Once Upon A Time (from two of the masterminds behind Lost, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz), you’ve gotten a taste of what you’re in for. But you’ve far from learned all the secrets the show plans to unleash.

When EW went to the Vancouver set earlier this month, we got to chat with the cast and executive producer Steve Pearlman about what viewers can expect from the coming pages of this tale. Here’s what we learned:

* There will be equal time spent in both worlds. The cast and crew were hard at work on episode 8 during EW’s visit, but Pearlman had read up to episode 10, and said from what he’d seen, the balance between Fairy Tale World and the real world would remain similar to the pilot in the next batch of episode. “Typically, we go into the Fairy Tale World in the first act. Sometimes it’s for a small chunk. We don’t have a rule that says we have to go into the Fairy Tale World once per act, but it kind of lays out that way for the most part,” he said.

Murray statement: Cowboys’ DeMarco Murray ready to shoulder rushing load

October 24th, 2011

ARLINGTON — The St. Louis Rams couldn’t stop DeMarco Murray.

Even on his second-longest run of the day — a 43-yard sprint in the fourth quarter — no Ram could get a handle on him. The Dallas rookie admitted he just ran out of gas on that play and went to the ground when he saw a tackler in his periphery.

Murray had a day to remember. He broke Emmitt Smith’s single-game rushing record with 253 yards, registered the longest first touchdown run (91 yards) of a career since the AFL-NFL merger, and became the third Dallas runner to surpass the 200-yard rushing mark, joining Emmitt and another player with a bust in Canton by the name of Dorsett.

Not bad for a guy who has yet to start an NFL game.

Herman Cain’s long-shot run

September 27th, 2011
Herman Cain is on a roll. Off a solid performance in Thursday night’s debate, the former Godfathers’ Pizza chief executive won a straw poll in Florida — one that has predicted the Republican presidential nominee every time it’s been held. While Cain’s chances of winning the nomination remain slim, he’s not thinking of dropping out anymore. So who is Herman Cain, and how did he get here?

Cain, 65, grew up in Georgia and graduated from Morehouse College. He became a turnaround artist, rescuing the Burger King outlets of Philadelphia. From there, he went to Omaha, where in 1986 he took over and stabilized Godfather’s Pizza with clever advertising and aggressive downsizing.

By the early 1990s, Cain had started to transition out of day-to-day management at Godfathers and delve into politics. In 1992, he was appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. In 1994, he became head of the National Restaurant Association, a post he held for five years.
